Mercy Effect is an organization that works to raise money for a specific global cause each year. In the past we have sent money to aid in the building of both medical facilities and schools in places such as Cameroon and Haiti.
This year we are raising money for the Laudato Tree project, also known as the Great Green Wall. The goal is to plant 8,000 kilometers of trees across the width of the Sahara desert in Africa. Though the idea of planting trees sounds quite simple, it actually has several long lasting benefits. Not only is it saving the environment, it is providing women with jobs, and granting food and water access, which decreases immigration rates.
In order to fundraise for these causes, students plan, organize, and execute two major events. These events are the Bibbidi Bobbidi Breakfast in November and the Superhero Breakfast in February.
