Legacy Scholarship

For many, the path to Gwynedd Mercy is built on family tradition.

Established by the Alumnae Association in 1997, the Legacy Scholarship helps Gwynedd Mercy families keep that path open by supporting students who have a familial connection to one or more graduates or current students. This tuition assistance scholarship awards $3,000 annually for four years. Recipients are selected not only for academic achievement but also for leadership, character, and a commitment to the Mercy Spirit—honoring the proud traditions of GMAHS and the vision of our Alumnae Association. Applicants must be prospective students and apply for financial assistance to be eligible.

Funding comes from generous individual donations and proceeds from select Alumnae Association events. One of the most meaningful ways to support this scholarship is by joining the Legacy Club, where members commit to giving $100 or more annually, ensuring deserving students can access a transformative Gwynedd education.

Be a guiding light on their path—donate, join the Legacy Club, or sponsor a Legacy Scholar with the form below.

With a gift of $100+, you will become an inaugural Legacy Club member, open doors for the next generation of Gwynedd girls, and continue our family legacies. Members will be recognized at the All-Class Reunion on October 18, 2025, with a 6:30PM champagne toast in their honor. Register here.

The Alumnae Association Board's Scholarship Committee reviews applications for the Legacy Scholarship each fall, and works to raise awareness of and funding for the scholarship itself. Meet the Legacy Scholars

Avery Godburn '28

What it means to be the Legacy Scholar: To be a Legacy Scholar means to take on the responsibilities of upholding the Mercy tradition through being a leader every day at Gwynedd.

Favorite GMA memory: My favorite GMA memory so far is Mercy Day. Mercy Day is so much fun with all the activities and events during the day. Everyone is supportive of each other, and I feel closer to my Gwynedd family. I am looking forward to many more Mercy Days in the future.

What it means to be the Legacy Scholar: To be a Legacy Scholar means to me to carry on the traditions of a Mercy Monarch and to make every one of our alumnae proud. To be awarded this scholarship is a very high honor that I aspire to uphold every day at Gwynedd.

How will you continue the legacy of Mercy? During my time at Gwynedd I will strive to include everyone into the family of Gwynedd and to do my part to serve those in need. Gwynedd is more than a school, it is a community, and I will do all that I can to preserve that.

What it means to be the Legacy Scholar: It means that I am now a leader and need to take responsibility. This is a big opportunity that can show my love for Gwynedd.

How will you continue the legacy of Mercy? In my four years here at Gwynedd, I plan to continue the legacy of Mercy by helping whenever is needed and never letting my team down by not showing up or lacking work.
