Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School Alumnae Mentors are committed alumnae who work in collaboration with the school to help prepare students for college and their careers through mentorship.

Mentorship Goals

The Program is designed to:

Give 11^th grade students an opportunity to seek advice from alumnae as they embark on the college application process, choosing a college and major, and their future careers.
Allow alumnae to share their experiences and feedback to guide students as they prepare for college and their future careers.
Promote Lifelong Sisterhood by creating bonds between alumnae and current students.

Mentor Role and Responsibilities

Mentor Role and Responsibilities: In working with Gwynedd’s Advancement Office, a Mentor is asked to:

Complete a mentorship survey to be paired with a mentee.
Watch a virtual orientation at the beginning of the mentorship term to learn guidelines for interacting with students.
Connect with her mentee, virtually or in person, for 30-60 minutes at least four times.
Share information about how Gwynedd prepared her for college and her career along with advice about navigating college and pursuing internships and other career opportunities.
Review her mentee’s resume and provide feedback.
Mentors are asked to serve for one school year (September to May) and will receive an invitation to renew their role each spring. Mentors may sign up to be paired with more than one mentee. Each mentor/mentee pair must meet for 30-60 minutes, at least four times per year. GMAHS also hosts an annual Mentorship Brunch each spring that we hope all mentors and mentees can attend.

Mentee Commitment

Mentee Role and Responsibilities: In working with Gwynedd’s Leadership Department, a Mentee is asked to:

Complete a mentorship survey to be paired with a mentor.
Attend an orientation to learn the expectations of a mentee and how to communicate with her mentor.
Schedule at least four meetings during the mentorship term and send calendar invitations and reminders about mentorship meetings.
Seek advice and guidance from her mentor by asking thoughtful questions, sharing her resume with her mentor, and coming prepared for each conversation.

Gwynedd’s Commitment: Mentors and Mentees are supported by the Director of Alumnae Engagement and Leadership Department. They will receive the following at the beginning of their time as a mentor:

Information about the mentor/mentee they are paired with.
Guidelines for what to cover in mentorship meetings and how to appropriately communicate.
Support throughout the duration of the mentorship period.
