The Performing Arts at Gwynedd offers a wide variety of programming and opportunities for our students
with interests in voice, instrument performance, and theater. 

 

Music Concentration

Voice
  • Open to all students
    • Glee Club: A choir open to all students who like to sing
    • Liturgical Music: Sings at School and community Masses
  • Private Voice Lessons are available
  • Audition Required
    • Chorale: Students may choose to audition for Chorale, a select choir
    • Mercy Melismatics: Gwynedd's a cappella group, the Melismatics is the most selective choir of Gwynedd
  • Optional and recommended: Students are encouraged to audition for All Catholic Choir and/or the PMEA Music Festivals
Academic Music Offerings

Students can select a music class to learn music theory, history, and technology. There is also a class for those interested in the history of American Music. Learn more here.

    • Orchestra
    • Jazz Band: for students interested in jazz and learning to improvise
  • Private Lessons are available
    • We have an extensive private lesson program at Gwynedd, offering students the opportunity to study with musicians from the Philadelphia area. If there is an instrument you do not see offered, please ask—we will bring in additional teachers!
  • Audition Required
    • Girls with Guitars: Gwynedd's very own rock band!
  • Optional and recommended: Students are encouraged to audition for All Catholic Band and Orchestra and/or the PMEA Music Festivals
Tri-M

Gwynedd is also a proud to sponsor a chapter of the
Tri-M Music Honor Society which is a service-based organization made up of students actively involved in the department. Learn more here.

Theatre

Each fall, Gwynedd Mercy Musical Theatre produces a full musical, which runs in November. This year, we were excited to produce Legally Blonde the Musical

Each spring, Monarch Stage Players produces a spring play. This year's spring play is, "Clue"!

  • Performers
    • Auditions take place during the first week of school. Callbacks take place in person and will include singing, dancing, and acting.
  • Stage Crew
    • It takes much more than a cast to put on a show—if you like to paint or construct, please consider being a member of Stage Crew.
  • The Booth Team
    • This is an opportunity to learn light and sound design and make sure those important aspects of the theatre run seamlessly.
