COACH TAYLOR SWEENEY ’12, HEAD COACH

Taylor Sweeney is the Head Coach of the Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School Basketball program and is in her second year leading the team. She brings eight years of coaching experience, with previous roles at Hatboro-Horsham High School, Fencor AAU, Mid-Atlantic Magic AAU, and Gwynedd Mercy University. Coach Sweeney played collegiate athletics at King’s College, where she was initially recruited to play soccer before walking on to the basketball team. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing from King’s College.

Coach Sweeney’s coaching philosophy centers on effort, accountability, and support, believing that hard work and consistency create lasting success. One of her early career highlights includes defeating Mount twice in her first season as head coach, along with building strong relationships that make athletes proud to be part of the program. She enjoys the team’s competitive drive and positivity, which makes each day in the gym rewarding. A proud Gwynedd legacy, Coach Sweeney comes from a family where generations of women have attended Gwynedd Mercy Academy.

COACH CHLOE HANSEN ’19, VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Chloe Hansen is the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Gwynedd Mercy Academy and is entering her second year with the program. She has three years of coaching experience and previously coached as a varsity assistant for both boys’ and girls’ basketball at Bibb County High School, as well as serving as the Head JV Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Springside Chestnut Hill. Coach Hansen holds a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama.

As a coach, Hansen focuses on building strong relationships with her athletes while emphasizing fundamentals, basketball IQ, confidence, and teamwork. One of her proudest coaching moments came last season when she led the JV team to a road win against Mount. She enjoys supporting her players and helping them improve every day, both on and off the court. A favorite quote she lives by is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
