MINISTRY & SERVICE
Every couple of months Gwynedd partners with Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, an after-school program for children in the Germantown area. On Wed., we took a trip to Merrymead Farms where our girls spent the afternoon with the children enjoying the sights and sounds of Merrymead. This included picking pumpkins, going on a hayride, going through a corn maze, and best of all, eating ice cream!
ACADEMICS
ART Students in ceramics class had fun planting succulents in their pinch pot creations. The finished products will be displayed in the halls of Gwynedd! Honors and AP art students had a wonderful time at the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia on Friday, Oct. 18th. They spent time viewing sculptures and sketching their favorite pieces. Students then
HISTORY During the extended periods on Wednesday, Mrs. Battisto's AP and Honors U.S. Government and Politics students completed a Federalism Scavenger Hunt. In small groups, they scanned QR codes to get clues that took them to various locations and people around the school. At these locations they took group selfies before running to the next location. When they finished taking pictures at all 20 locations, they returned to the classroom to research the relevant laws related to each clue and to identify each law as a federal or state-level policy. Students learned not only about the types of laws passed at the federal and state levels, but also the various ways that public policy influences the day to day running of our school. And they had fun while doing it!
MATHEMATICS Dr. Clementi's Algebra 1 students have been exploring ratios, rates and unit conversions. They used measuring cups, measuring spoons, gallon, half gallon, quart and pint containers to convert units.
SCIENCE This week in Chemistry class, Gwynedd scientists were working on a lab that involved measuring the heat energy of boiled water, and doing calculations for problems that involved their own energy (calorie) intake. What a fun activity during #NationalChemistryWeek!
