These charcoal landscape Ansel Adams studies were created by the Drawing & Painting class. They captured a full range of values and atmospheric perspective in this beautiful work.

ACTIVITIES
MONARCH MORNINGS During Wednesday's Monarch Morning, Seniors were immersed in some graduation preparation. Then, they took a few deep breaths during a Tai Chi lesson, followed by some sweet treats compliments of the Alumnae Association. "One step closer to becoming an Alumna!"
Juniors took turns working with the College Counseling team. Sophomores, and Freshmen learned about aerodynamics and military life and experience from Gwynedd Alumna, Col. Marlena Ventresca Parker, USAF '86.
About our guest speaker: Following graduation from Gwynedd, Col. Parker attended the United States Air Force Academy, and then attended Pilot Training. She served for 10 years in active duty flying the KC-10 Extender, then was hired by American Airlines, and transitioned to the Air Force Reserve. Col. Parker is a First Officer and has flown the T-37, T-38, T-1, C-40, and B-737. From 2013-2016, she serves as the first female Commander of the 73rd Airlift Squadron and currently assist the 621st Contingency Response Wing Commander in the development of over 1,500 airmen all over the world.
The colonel discussed with students how, during her childhood she watched NASA missions in awe and aspired to one day become an astronaut. One day, her Gwynedd college counselor pulled a book from her office bookshelf, handed it to Marlena, and suggested she consider the Air Force. Marlena shared that it was the strong foundation of her Gwynedd education and Mercy service experiences that prepared her for studies and training, and a life committed to service.
