Why All-Girls?
Academic Excellence: the Foundation of a Mercy Education. "Nothing is more important to society than the careful instruction of women." ~Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy
Academic Excellence can be defined as an individual student working to achieve her academic best, and she is empowered to define it. Our student-center curriculum and schedule, allows every student to use her unique talents and strengths in the classroom while also challenging to her to evolve her thinking and problem-solving across subjects and disciplines. At Gwynedd, our students benefit from connecting the tools provided in a 21st century classroom with a strong foundation in critical thinking, reading and writing effectively, and collaborative problem-solving. Register for a Tour and the Practice Test
Getting on campus for a morning or evening tour in 6th grade allows you and your family the opportunity to ask any and all questions connected to the high school admissions process. See what Gwynedd is like: walk the red and gold corridors, talk with our students, faculty, and staff, and hear about our plans for the future - in the short-term and in the long-term.
If you can't make it for a tour this spring, sign up for one of our summer camps, and, in August, register for our Open House!

What is the Gwynedd Summit? The Gwynedd Summit is a two-day leadership conference for rising 8th graders to take a glimpse into their potential future. Students will meet current Gwynedd girls who can't wait to share the Mercy spirit and alumnae who are passionate about their careers and giving back to Gwynedd! Over the past four years, the Gwynedd Summit has grown into a must-attend event! Career fields represented have included: Nursing, Law, Technology/STEM, Event Planning, Health Care, Animal Science, Nutrition and Wellness, Sport-Broadcast Journalism, and more! The Accelerated-Scholars Program
The Accelerated-Scholars Program provides high-achieving seventh-graders the opportunity for early admittance into Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School and ability to secure their place in the Class of 2025 by the start of their eighth-grade year. Seventh grade students who take our 7th Grade Practice Test, score really well, and show a strong desire to attend Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School will be invited to participate. Please keeo in mind that the Accelerated-Scholars Program will also offer academic scholarships!
During the week of January 19th, Gwynedd held the first "Mercy-mester". Gwynedd students in grades 9, 10, and 11 explored passion-based learning in classes outside of our academic curriculum. Meanwhile, our seniors went on their annual retreat, "Emmaus"! Watch the video above to learn more about how Mercy-mester came to be.
Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School has earned the College Board's Dual AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award, which recognizes schools that are closing the gender gap and engaging more female students in computer science coursework in AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science. Out of more than 20,000 secondary schools worldwide that offer AP courses, only 818 achieve this award. In 2019, Gwynedd was one of only 36 to be recognized for closing the gender gap in both AP Computer Science courses.
The Mothers' Club hosted the "Roaring 2020s" Fashion Show on January 26 at Presidential Caterers. 28 senior models, 3 talented speakers, and 340 guests were in attendance! The models graced the runway in fashions from Country Bride & Gent and Lilly Pulitzer.
Last week, Gwynedd students visited Jefferson Institute of Bioprocessing. This campus is an exciting new venture for Jefferson University where graduate students from across the country gather as a team of innovators, using their diverse undergraduate degrees to research, design, and implement the functionality of cells to produce medicines. The day presented an amazing opportunity for Gwynedd Girls to hear about the possibilities to help people around the globe fight or be cured from disease from the minds of graduate students!
On January 29, a group of Gwynedd student-athletes attended the "Triple-Impact Competitor" seminar. Our league, the "AACA", has partnered with the "Positive Coaching Alliance" group to help players, coaches and parents become better athletes, better people.
Our furry friends from "Furever Yours Rescue" came to visit Gwynedd a few times last month. These pups, big and small, are in-training therapy dogs who have stolen the hearts of the Gwynedd community!
Livia Olsen '21, Alaina Holder '23, Erin Ernst '23, Katie Hess '22, Kate O'Connell '22, Olivia Guarnaccia '22, and Mara Howard '22 attended the winter rowing clinic at Princeton University. This national clinic offered our rowers the opportunity to meet with Princeton's coaches and learn how to prepare for the Spring season.
