Gwynedd Girls participate and hold leadership roles in 70 clubs, activities, teams.
"All-girls educational environments negate this societal norm by providing opportunities for girls during a critical time in their growth and development. Not only do girls receive a wealth of avenues for self-exploration and development, they also see a wealth of peer role models. Girls need to 'see it, to be it' to make them more aware of the possibilities in their own lives and help set them on their own brilliant paths."
–Megan Murphy, Executive Director, National Coalition of Girls' Schools Open House Sunday, Oct. 4 11AM - 2PM

7th Graders! Introducing: Scholarship Season
Did you know – you can earn a scholarship to Gwynedd in 7th grade? A strong academic performance in 7th grade, in addition to a top score on our 7th grade practice test and interest in Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, could earn you an academic scholarship. Leadership at the Gwynedd Summit The 5th Annual Gwynedd Summit promises to be another fantastic on-campus experience for rising 8th graders to hear from Gwynedd Alumnae in a variety of careers and how they took full advantage of their time at Gwynedd. In addition, the Gwynedd Leadership Department will host engaging workshops and activities with ideas of how the girls can make the most of 8th grade and set goals for their future high school experience.
Contributed by Mrs. Elaine Bradley, M.A., P'03 Business and Social Sciences Faculty Mrs. Elaine Bradley Economics and Entrepreneurship teaches students the theory of economics along with the practical application of entrepreneurship. Last semester, under the guidance of Dan McCartney, the students formed an investment company, "GMA Inc. 2020." The purpose was to show the students how businesses are formed and operated using an investment forum. Dan invested $15,000 into the business and equipped the girls with the knowledge of selecting investments. The hope was that each girl would leave with a lifelong skill of understanding businesses and investments. The students opened brokerage accounts, evaluated companies, and invested among five companies from the Dow Jones and Nasdaq indices. Erin McCartney McKee, Esq. '95 used her legal expertise to incorporate the business and file the necessary papers. She mentored the class on this invaluable skill of empowering young women to take control of their finances. The girls overwhelmingly embraced the idea and were genuinely interested and excited to have had this hands-on experience. Dan is truly passionate about sharing this skill with the girls and the girls in turn are grateful to have had this experience. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and commitment of Dan McCartney and Erin McCartney McKee, Esq.'95.
Spotlight on Mr. Dan McCartney and Mrs. Erin McCartney McKee, Esq. '95 Women and Finance Erin McCartney McKee, Esq. '95 Although it still seems strange to see my dad walking the halls of my alma mater, I could not be happier that he has decided to share his time and invaluable knowledge with the Gwynedd students. His innovative curriculum is so unique and such a wonderful asset to the school. In fact, whenever I talk with friends and colleagues about the course, the response is always, "Wow…I wish I had a class like that in high school."
