The 7th grade practice test is just that—practice!
The practice test is a great way to prepare for the Entrance-Scholarship Exam in the fall. Your daughter can get to know Gwynedd by sitting in one of our classrooms, meeting our teachers, mingling with our student ambassadors, and meeting students in her grade from other schools. By sitting for the practice test, your daughter also has the opportunity to attend the Gwynedd Summit, a free 2-day leadership conference in the summer hosted by Gwynedd student leaders! Our 7th grade practice test is also the first step of our Accelerated Scholars Program (ASP). Students who qualify for the ASP will be notified in their 7th grade practice test results packet.
For parents: We will host a socially-distant, parent information session in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) from 8:30am – 9:30am the morning of the practice test. Reservations may be required. Further details will follow closer to the event. Please continue to monitor your email.

Cassandra Smith '21 Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, The Mercy Magnet Since my first days at Gwynedd, it has been the place to foster my growth as a student, a leader, and a person. The community always takes the extra step to ensure that we succeed in all areas of life. Whether it be in a sport, on the stage, or a writer on the newspaper, Gwynedd gives opportunities to their students to show their talents and succeed.
One of the opportunities Gwynedd has given me is the role of Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, The Mercy Magnet. This was something I was nervous to do, but eager to take on as a challenge. I found out I was selected for the job for the 2020-2021 school year during the time of virtual learning. With so many things uncertain at the time, I thought to myself, how can I make this newspaper accessible if we do not go back in person school next year? Lucky for me, Gwynedd was able to offer us the hybrid learning model, however with COVID, I did not want to be printing the paper to hand out to the whole student body. In the spirit of modernization and finding a platform that serves students in this virtual world, I decided to create a newspaper website that allows us to share current events and happenings at Gwynedd. This was the perfect solution to my dilemma and something that Gwynedd was more than willing to allow me to explore. So far it has been a major success and we have been able to get more girls involved in the writing process than we have had in years past. It's amazing to see so much dedication and effort go into something that keeps our Gwynedd community informed.
We are ever-changing here at Gwynedd. A place that allows students to take charge and keep us moving through the years. I am happy to have spent my high school years here and look forward to my future with all the skills and insights Gwynedd has taught me.

Maguire Scholars This past weekend, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School's Maguire Scholars gathered to make meals for Face to Face. Face to Face, a partner organization to the Maguire Foundation, is a human service organization that is committed to improving the quality of life for struggling families, low-income individuals and the homeless, by meeting their basic human needs. The scholars wanted to find a way to give back to those in need as a thank the Maguire Foundation for providing them an educational opportunity. Jessica Dang '21 said, "the girls believe that it is their personal responsibility to give back to society".
The Maguire Scholars made over 150 lunch packets, each containing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, granola bar, water bottle, and a handwritten note. Each note was written on the back of a card with a painting done by Mrs. Maguire so that every bag had a personal touch and honored Mrs. Maguire's legacy of caring for others. This was a great opportunity for the Maguire Scholars to come together outside of school and give back to the community as, "we are men and women for others".
Speech and Debate State Champions The speech and debate team has FOUR state champions! Molly Meehan '23 7th in Informative, Ava Harvest '22 1st in Persuasive, Sahiba Tandon '21 1st in Informative, and Gaby Broytman '22 and Isabelle Spirk '21 1st in News Broadcasting! Class of 2020 Speech and Debate alumnae Jill Dougherty and Rachel Edwards were there to judge the events, as well.
Ministry & Service Ministry and Service has been offering a lot of opportunities for Gwynedd Girls to get involved, both in-school and virtually at home. Most recently, students recorded trivia and made cards for Women of Hope, cleaned up Kohler Park, and hosted a Zoom while creating personalized mugs with Kyffin Grove residents.
