Our school community will celebrate Mercy Day on Monday morning, Sept. 24, with a liturgy at 8:30 AM in the Performing Arts Center.

This feast celebrates the day that the first House of Mercy opened on Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland. This house was a residence for poor girls and women, where they received education.

As faculty member, Mrs. Battisto, shared on Friday, "For anyone who is not familiar with the story of Mother Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, the story of her life and her mission of Mercy is fascinating and inspirational to anyone who is Catholic, Irish, a young woman, from Philadelphia, rich or poor, raising young women, and honestly anyone who is human, loves his/her neighbor, and is called to service. I hope that our extended community feels our love today... our sister Mercy schools around the nation and the world as well as our Alumnae, who we cherish and who will always be a part of this celebration in spirit no matter where they are today."

All are welcome to join us for this special Mass of Thanksgiving, as we celebrate our rich legacy of Mercy. The liturgy will be followed by the installation of our student officers, along with a presentation by faculty member Dr. Kara McGrorty-Derstine '01, addressing one of the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy: Non-Violence.

Utilizing a research based color chart as their guide, which displays specific emotions associated with specific colors, students spent a majority of the block period critically assessing their personal faith journey in a creative, unique and fun way. This exercise will be conducted once more prior to the end of the academic year to see if any measurable difference in their faith journey has transpired.

Gwynedd's 27th Annual Golf Classic Committee invites all members of the Gwynedd community, family and friends to attend and support GMA's annual golf outing on Monday, October 8, at the Blue Bell Country Club.

Golfers are not the only ones who will enjoy the event!  This year we are closing out the day with a fun reception, featuring wine tasting with Karamoor Estate Wines, vodka tasting with Stateside Urbancraft Vodka, and a silent auction all will enjoy.

More than a fun event, the Golf Classic is an important fundraiser that provides immediate support for academic programs and initiatives that directly benefit Gwynedd students. Gwynedd is most grateful to the Hansen Family for their generosity in hosting this year's outing at Blue Bell, allowing 100% of your registration and sponsorship dollars to directly support Gwynedd and our girls.

Visit www.gmahs.org/golf to learn more and to register as a golfer, sponsor or cocktail reception attendee (non-golfers are welcome to enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live music, vodka and wine tasting.) Thank you for your support!
