Open House 2019
Sunday, October 13th!
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Founded in 1861, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls. For over 150 years, our benefactors have generously supported our mission of educating young women in the spirit of Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy. This support has enabled us to continue to provide excellence in academics, education, faith formation leadership training and extra-curricular activities.
The mission of the Advancement team, is to advance the mission of the school through fundraising efforts. We accomplish this in several ways: the Mercy Fund, the Golf Outing and the Mercy Magic Auction and are supported in these efforts by an enthusiastic and hard working Mothers' and Fathers' Club, present and past parents, alumnae and friends. The Alumnae Association is led by Director of Alumnae Relations, Karen Price Benson '79 and governed by its own Board of Directors who are dedicated to connecting with alumnae and keeping them connected to the school. They sponsor several annual events including Salute to the Stars, Quizzo Night, young alumnae activities, Class Agent programs and publish the Mercy Magazine. Individual alumnae often return to Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School and share their professional success stories with the students.
A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a current 9th grade student of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. The scholarship is awarded for each of three years at GMAHS beginning in 10th grade. Qualifications are based on Mercy Spirit, Leadership, Character and Academics. Applications are distributed in homerooms and the recipient is announced at Class Day ceremonies. For additional information, email Alumnae Director Karen Price Benson '79 at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each year our alumnae, parents, grandparents and friends make a difference at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School by philanthropically supporting The Mercy Fund.
Each member of our community is invited to support the Mercy Fund during our fiscal year, July 1st to June 30th. This collective support enables Gwynedd to make an immediate impact on our Gwynedd Girls through academic excellence, technology, facilities, mission initiatives, scholarship and financial aid.
Carolyn Keen was a member of the Class of 2010, whose life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident just before Christmas in her Junior year. Her family established a scholarship in her memory. The award is presented each year to a rising junior who has a demonstrable love for Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, is involved with GMAHS sports and is an overall hard working student. Carolyn’s name and memory is also honored each year in the CK5K – a 5K run and 3K walk to benefit the scholarship fund.
In 2012, approximately 200 walkers and runners participated in the event, held on June 9th. All are welcome to participate in this annual event.
Carolyn was a spirited Mercy girl, an accomplished athlete and a credit to her family and to Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. We invite you to join us in honoring her life and her memory by making a donation to:
